The Duke of Gloucester has officially opened a Page\Park designed centre for veterans who have lost their sight.

Based in West Lothian the Linburn Centre has been built by Scottish War Blinded, a charity dedicated to the support of veterans by providing space for socialising, relaxation and learning.

Built in a crescent inspired by an oriental dragon the £3m centre, financed entirely through public donations, includes a gym, workshop, training kitchen, IT suite and sensory garden.

The Duke of Gloucester said: “The past is embraced by the outline of the building, echoing the Chinese dragon symbolising support received over many years from Hong Kong. The armed forces are recalled by the dramatic roof shape that recalls at once a wing, a wave or a military tent.”
