Holyrood context

November 19 2004

Miles Glendinning and the RCAHMS have published a book, which aims to place the Holyrood project into a broader context. The Architecture of Scottish Government provides an overview of government and assembly buildings from the Middle Ages to the present day. In contrast to the traditional concept of the grand, self–centred parliament building it shows how parliaments have formed one element in a mosaic of buildings of legislation and administration. Aonghus MacKechnie,Historic Scotland; Richard Oram, University of Stirling and Athol Murray, former Keeper of the Records of Scotland have also contributed.
