National Trust top out Burns Museum
Chief Executive of the National Trust Scotland, Kate Mavor, has marked completion of the £21m Robert Burns Birthplace Museum by laying some turf at a topping out ceremony.

Built by Border Construction and designed by Simpson & Brown the timber framed museum will be split into four sections – ‘Identity’, ‘Inspiration’, ‘Fame’ and ‘Creative Works’- which will address Burns’ life, loves and work.

Project Curator David Hopes has produced a video diary of the ongoing build which will be four times bigger than the old museum. Eight key works will be displayed running chronologically from ‘Once I loved a Bonnie Lass’ through to ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

Due to complete in autumn 2010 the museum is the largest project ever undertaken by the Trust who are currently fundraising for the final £1m.
