E&C’s Castlemilk Stables win inaugural My Place Award
The Scottish Civic Trust has launched a new awards scheme judged, uniquely, by the people as stated by with Elder & Cannon adding to their long list of Castlemilk plaudits with first place win.

Sponsored by the Scottish Government culture minister Fiona Hyslop was on hand to present the award, reserving special mention for Malcolm Fraser architects Infirmary Street Baths project which won a commendation, the minister used to swim there “many years ago.”

Hyslop said: “At a time when the world is becoming more global it is important that people obtain a better understanding of their own local environment.

Why do we need a new awards scheme? Hyslop said: “The My Place Awards are unique in promoting a community focus and understanding local needs. These are projects selected by those who have experienced the schemes first hand.”

Angus Kerr, chairman of the judging panel noted: “This is not a peer award, it’s a people award.”

Trust director John Pelan said: “Civic Societies are the unsung heroes in preserving our historic buildings, I hope this award goes some way to rewarding those people.”
