Hoskins wins Aberdeen gallery comp
Gareth Hoskins Architects have won the competition to redevelop Aberdeens grade A listed Art Gallery.

Housing collections of both fine and applied arts the gallery exhibits a particularly fine collection of work by the Scottish Colourists along with contemporary artists and recently hosted a major exhibition of the superealist sculptor Ron Mueck.

Funded by the McBey Trust the £20m project will reconfigure the existing gallery and Cowdray Hall to improve access, circulation and facilities.

Initial proposals call for extensions to both the rear of the property, providing improved back of house facilities and new gallery space at roof level.

A new public arrivals space will be created through reconfiguration of the street.

These ideas are to be explored further through discussions with Gallery staff and the public to inform an initial design study.

Hope the coffee place becomes better and will not feel so closed-in
