Reiach and Hall see Stobhill thrill
Stobhill Hospital has extended a recent winning streak, following its recent triumph at the Roses Design Awards where it scooped the title of best new building outside London.

The Springburn hospital beat off stiff competition from around the country to secure the Best Designed Hospital 2009 accolade at the Building Better Healthcare Awards, quickly followed by the healthcare gong at the Glasgow Institute of Architects prize giving.

This award has been particularly well received by architects Reiach & Hall as it constitutes the largest design awards for the healthcare profession in the country.

Stobhill has made headlines for its innovative configuration of space and light, calming the patient environment with specially commissioned art and poetry.

The hospital, alongside the practices Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, is in the running for the Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award. The winner of which will be announced on Friday.
