A series of blocks are planned for adjoining sites ranging from an eight storey signature drum to 3 storey terracing that will supplant existing parking space and encroach upon some open land in the vicinity.
Architects the Ian Darby Partnership claim however that their proposals will enhance the setting of both lane and river by “closing” an urban block and setting back upper levels with an aspiration to accommodate roof gardens by way of recompense for lost greenery.
A landscaped frontage would be maintained along the riverbank with development adjoining the recently completed student residences on Gibson Street.
Costed at £10m the scheme would deliver 152 homes in total and be constructed from a mixture of sandstone, brickwork, timber and render.
