The science and ecology of soil: carbon capture and carbon loss explained.
Healthy soil is vital to life on land. Soils can hold a large a store of carbon, but that store can be lost through poor management. Soils have sustained society since the last ice, but they have come under intense pressure due to change in type and intensity of land use. If soils degrade too far, they will lose their worth and the rural economy as we know it will end. Is there a way to reach a balance between economic short-termism and soil integrity?
