Union Terrace Gardens Aberdeen

Union Terrace Gardens is a highly prestigious project which looks to give contemporary rejuvenation of the existing Victorian gardens at the heart of Aberdeen’s city centre. Surrounded by listed buildings, busy streets and mature trees, Union Terrace Gardens are one of the most centrally located city parks in Scotland. LDA Design’s proposals focus on transforming the existing Victorian gardens to create a new landmark contemporary park for Aberdeen; a habitable green heart that optimises the connection between people, landscape and the city.

Set within the city’s distinctive Denburn Valley, recognising that the existing valley topography and mature landscape setting is integral to the character of Aberdeen’s city centre meant the proposals dealt with the careful balance of respecting and enhancing the existing natural assets whilst creating contemporary intervention to deliver new uses that will increase footfall, use and enjoyment of the space.
