North Ayrshire’s largest school completes in Largs
North Ayrshire Council has taken possession of a £52m education campus in Largs, the largest such facility to be built by the authority so far.

Amongst several big claims made of the outsize school is a games hall said to be ‘potentially’ the largest in the UK, delivered in partnership with SportScotland whose Inverclyde headquarters is situated next door.

Other facilities include art classrooms complete with their own outdoor balconies and twin theatres with commercial grade lighting and sound systems. An on-site Early Years Centre will also form part of the mix.

Michael McBrearty, chief executive of development partner hub South West commented: “Largs Campus will provide excellent facilities for the wider community and transform education in the seaside town. The setting is spectacular and the opportunities for sport and outdoor learning in the neighbouring facilities are absolutely first-class.”

Drawing together pupils from the former Largs Academy, St Mary’s Primary and Largs Primary the school was delivered in collaboration with Morrison Construction, Hub South West and JM Architects.
