Terminal 2 takes off

Terminal 2 takes off
Construction is underway at Glasgow Airport in the form of a £31 million terminal expansion from 3DReid.

The 2 storey, 4,000sq/m development is scheduled to complete in April 2009 and will provide capacity for additional seating, retail and catering facilities.  Integral to the plans is a security screening area designed to replace three existing security zones.

A high performance Kalwall cladding system has been sourced, this lets light in without solar gain and are backed up by the presence of five large rooflights.

A significant challenge was presented in the form of cramped floor to ceiling heights bequeathed by the existing 1970's terminal building.   New ceilings had to be installed at 2.6m leaving just 300cm for services.
