Land Securities make shopping elementary
The Elements is a £130 million retail area in Livingston from BDP for Land Securities comprising some 375,000sq/ft of floor space.  Adjoining the Almondvale Shopping Centre, development is anticipated to open for trade in October 2008.

The new retail area will feature an expansive ETFE plastic roof with Rheinzinc and terracotta rainscreen cladding across an environment of open walkways and terracing.  NCC provided a combination of preformed Sika butyl rubber strips, cut exactly to size on site and bonded with SikaBond elastic adhesive to ensure all joints and edges were securely watertight.

Debenhams and Marks & Spencer have signed up to anchor the development which will be home to the usual list of High Street names.  Specific areas of interest within the centre both internally and externally will be enhanced by the addition of artistic features and public art.

Located in the heart of Livingstone town centre the development is nevertheless car centric with the bulk of shoppers expected to arrive via the adjacent 1,500 space multi storey car park.
