Maybole ‘super school’ to unite 1,400 pupils
South Ayrshire Council have launched a consultation into plans to create an amalgamated ‘super school’ within the grounds of the existing Carrick Academy.

The £42m campus would bring together pupils of Cairn Primary and Gardenrose Primary, a new St Cuthbert’s Primary, early years provision, two all weather pitches and shared community facilities.

Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for lifelong learning, said: “We’re committed to providing young people with the best chances in life and while the standard of education in Maybole is high, the existing schools are badly in need of significant investment.

“By creating a brand new community campus, we’ll create a network of schools on a par with similar projects that have been completed or are underway across South Ayrshire, and which are already helping to transform the way people are taught.

“I’d urge anyone with an interest in these proposals to make their comments known through the consultation process, as their views will be considered ahead of a final decision being made later this year.”

A series of public meetings will kick off with a gathering at Cairns Primary School on 20 March at 19:00 before switching to Gardenrose and St Cuthberts for the following two nights.

Well its overdue. This should have taken priority over Queen Margarets in Ayr.
The details are not here but given the huge education renewal under PPP type schems in SAC I just wonder what the eventual cost will be. Starting to alarm me.
