Kings House hotel overhaul wins Highland seal of approval
Ambitious plans to significantly extend the footprint of the Kings House Hotel at Glencoe have secured the backing of Highland Council following a gathering of its planning committee.

Overruling objections from the National trust for Scotland and John Muir Trust the authority sided with the hotels owners and Covell Matthews Architects to award the all-clear.

James Allan of managing agents Bidwells commented: “The plans for the hotel are in-keeping with the majestic environment and our client is very focussed on making this a sustainable project which complements their existing business interests elsewhere in Scotland, such as the Drymnin whisky distillery on the Morvern Peninsula.

“The de Spoelberch family recognised the hotel needs money and care and should be a place for people who enjoy sport and the outdoors. They consider this project as an impact investment, which is close to them and the things they love, whilst ensuring the proposal is economically viable.”

Construction work will get underway ‘as soon as possible’ to complete by early 2019.

"The plans for the hotel are in-keeping with the majestic environment" Let that sink in.

This original plans for this were fine, no idea what the objections from the National and JM Trusts are......the current building is a state, will be a vast improvement and can provide a good stop on the WHW now as well!
