Pupils prepare for first lessons at Dalbeattie Learning Campus
Dumfries & Galloway Council has taken possession of the latest addition to its school’s estate with completion of the £24m Dalbeattie Learning Campus ahead of its opening next week.

Marrying the towns primary and secondary schools together with nursery provision on a single campus the Holmes Miller designed build was delivered by Graham Construction and Woolgar Hunter during an 18 month build programme from March 2016.

Councillor Jeff Leaver commented: “Dalbeattie Learning Campus will deliver first class facilities and transform education in Dalbeattie, delivering learning facilities appropriate for the 21st century.

“We were all very impressed by the new campus. The whole building is so spacious, bright and welcoming and a huge amount of thought, including a very large input from the pupils who will soon be moving into their new school, has gone into the design of all aspects of the building.

“The setting is spectacular and the sports facilities and opportunities for outdoor learning are absolutely first class.”

Attention will now turn to the old High School on adjacent land which will be cleared to provide expanded grounds.
The school includes an automotive workshop, dance studio, sports hall and climbing wall

Dalbeattie is distinctive town built of granite with its own quarry. Has any been used as a contextual reference?
