Renfrewshire Council takes leap of faith with £13.8m schools campus
Renfrewshire Council has taken possession of a unique joint faith school’s campus in Newton Mearns, said to be the first joint faith campus to be built anywhere in the world to specifically house children of Catholic and Jewish upbringing in one building.

The £13.8m school offers both a direct replacement for the former Calderwood Lodge Jewish school while also bringing an additional Catholic school to the area together with a nursery.

Designed by BDP each school utilizing its own separate entrance, teaching block and head teacher while sharing meeting spaces around a central amphitheatre. Together these are housed in a steel structure overlaid with cement board, Zinc and Alucobond cladding.

Natural light is amplified through use of large format perimeter timber/aluminium composite windows with clerestory glazing above the main atrium.

Built by Heron Bros the campus also includes a number of outdoor terraces to provide additional teaching spaces.
