Broxburn Primary School site given over to housing for older people
The former Broxburn Primary in West Lothian has begun a new life as housing for older people following redevelopment and extension of the former school.

Develivered by affordable partnership housing specialist Lovell in partnership with architect Marjory Mackie of West Lothian Council the scheme offers purpose built accommodation designed to allow older residents to live as independent a life as possible.

In doing so the designers have saved original sandstone buildings dating back to the 1890’s from the Buildings at Risk Register while adding two new buildings to form a total of 18 one and two-bedroom flats arranged around a central courtyard and garden.

Since completion the project has been recognised as affordable housing project of the year at the Homes for Scotland Awards.
