New Brunstane masterplan secures approval
City of Edinburgh Council has lent its support to a 1,330 home masterplan for the New Brunstane district of the city spearheaded by the EDI Group.

Including 300 affordable homes the scheme will deliver a family-oriented neighbourhood complete with a new primary school and civic centre incorporating retail, commercial and community facilities.

Extensive parkland and facillitating infrastructure is also envisaged for the site, bounded by  Newcraighall Road to the south and Milton Road East to the north.

Welcoming the decision EDI wrote: “EDI will continue to work with the Council, local community and stakeholders throughout the development, ensuring that New Brunstane can become a thriving community that complements the surrounding area and becomes a great place to live, relax and play.”

The masterplan has been drawn up by Area.

Good stuff. This is a really promising masterplan - significantly more considered than the by-the-numbers stuff by EMA further out at Wallyford and Blindwells - here's hoping the design intent is carried through to the execution.
