North Sighthill regeneration set for February push

City of Edinburgh Council is to press ahead with a £35m regeneration project at North Sighthill in February of next year after finalizing contracts for the build.

Designed by Anderson Bell Christie the project will deliver 316 homes social, mid-market and private sale the scheme will replace demolished high-rise flats with low-rise terraced and flatted accommodation.

Cllr Joan Griffiths, housing leader for City of Edinburgh Council, said: “North Sighthill is one of the largest new house-building projects in Edinburgh, after the regeneration of Pennywell in the north which is well underway. This development is a key part the council’s commitment, working with housing associations, to deliver 16,000 affordable and low cost homes and nearly £2 billion investment over the next ten years.”

Work on the masterplan is expected to conclude by 2019.

Not doubting the benefit to the community and I am sure the masterplan is decent enough...but the architecture is depressingly familiar with every other resi' scheme designed 2013-2016: Telford north/Parklife/Springside/Brunswick Road...blah blah...Time to wake from the coma..zzzzzzz

and someone will come and argue 'what's wrong of repeating the design if everyone likes it..' As if what we learnt about the importance of context in the architecture school are no longer applicable...
