£10.5m distillery lifts spirits in Glasgow
AD Rattray Scotch Whisky Company has begun work to extend and convert an historic pump house on the former Queen’s Dock, Glasgow, to form a £10.5m Hypostyle designed whisky distillery and visitor centre.

The Clydeside Distillery will see the B-listed building preserved to house an exhibition and visitor centre alongside a new build glass fronted extension exposing the innards of the distillery itself to the Clyde.

AD Rattray proprietor AD Rattray said: “The city was once home to many whisky distilleries, and we think The Clydeside Distillery will put Glasgow right back on the Scotch whisky map.

“Few people know the historical significance of the iconic pump house building to the Scotch whisky trade.

“In years gone by, this building controlled the entry bridge into the Queens Dock ensuring Customs and Excise could keep a close eye on goods in and out, including whisky.”

The first whisky will be poured from autumn 2017.
The new extension will be clad in Clad in blue-grey standing-seam metal and timber screens

Excellent to see this finally happening and will be a great addition for Glasgow within a key zone that is crying out for development. I know I for one would definitely take visitors there if it worthwhile.

and a visitors centre/museum to the graving dock would be an ideal balance to the other bank of the clyde - can we do that instead of resi rushed through by the grasping council?

When are the Buckfast Abbey monks going to set up a facility in Glasgow?
The road miles from Devon are totally unsustainable..

Does anyone know what is proposed for the land between here and the Transport Museum? Would be great to see it developed but hopefully not as white render boxes posing as living accomodation?

Brilliant. Good to see it going ahead. Now to fix the gap sites surrounding it.

Excellent addition to the Glasgow Waterfront please make sure every development is as quality as this. When can we see the proposed floating village near the science centre? We need quality development on the waterfront keep it coming.
