Plans for 51 Meadowbank flats progress
An £11m bid by MNM Developments to build 52 flats on Dalgety Road, Edinburgh, is being progressed with a view to complete by early next year.

The scheme is being targeted at buyers seeking larger investment opportunities as well as second time buyers and will come with its own basement car park.

In their design and access statement Hackland + Dore wrote: “The proposals make reference to the traditional pattern of development and provide continuity to the linear homogeneous frontage on western Marionville Road. A continuous and solid/plain frontage further extends the streetscape.

“The proposals define a clear streetscape of Marionville Road with a continuous frontage, in keeping with the character of the street. The massing on the narrower Dalgety Road also provides a linear – yet set back - urban frontage. The longitudinal mass is articulated into smaller volumes remaining sympathetic in scale to the tenements in the immediate surrounding area.”

Buildings will be clad in buff stone with setback penthouses finished in ‘mansard-style’ metal cladding.

Whilst it's great that there are plans to sort that area out (not that far down the road from me) those renders do them absolutely no favours.
I hope it's just some combination of cheap graphics software and tasteless office monkey roped in to do the graphics.

I usually like Hackland + Dore designs. This however is disappointing. It has the aesthetic of a Romanian detention centre. If that was the aim then I stand corrected. They nailed it.
