Public consultation held for Johnstone masterplan
A public consultation has been held in the Renfrewshire town of Johnstone outlining proposals for a supermarket, pub, drive through restaurant, 20 homes, a car park and community woodland on the site of the A-listed Paton’s Mill, of which nothing now remains following a devastating fire in 2009.

@Sipp Pension Trustees have commissioned Stallan Brand who has produced a basic site-wide land use plan as part of their strategic master planning role for the site, illustrating the scale of planned works.

This will take in land bordering the Black Cart River, opening up a stretch of riverfront to cyclists and pedestrians along a heritage path which could include information points detailing the history of the former mill.

A formal planning application with detailed designs will be submitted pending conclusion of a public consultation.
Much of the land will be given over to a surface car park

Nothing now remains?
Two landmark towers are still standing!

We really don't need more drive through's or supermarkets, build houses instead.

This will cause further congestion in the high st and roads leading into Johnstone. More houses and flats, offices and a childrens indoor play area would work better for this site

Fix the eyesore that is at the bottom of Macdowall Street first!
We also don't need yet another supermarket. We have a Morrisons, Lidil, Iceland, Tesco and Asda all within easy reach!
If you're going to build anything on the site build more affordable social housing or a space for community food growing and learning.
The remaining parts of the Mill should be restored. They are historic and an important part of the town's history. Why erase that and make another boring, bland, unneeded supermarket and drive thru!?
Also - like we need another pub!

Traffic is already too busy in this stretch of road. A supermarket facing another supermarket??? bonkers idea for this area!!!

"Much of the area will be given over to a surface car-park."
I'm sure that's just what they need; it'll really tie the area together, give it that multi-purpose industrial estate wilderness I'm sure they've always wanted to replace a historic set of buildings.
Jesus wept.

Council should be held accountable if permitting such a move!!!
