Funding finalised for latest Townhead student build
Balfour Beatty has raised the required revenue to fully fund its development of 536 student bedrooms at Kennedy Street, Glasgow.

The courtyard scheme has been designed by Oberlanders and varies in scale from six storey flatted elements to two storey mews houses to maximise sunlight from the west.

Ian Woosey, director at Balfour Beatty Investments, commented: “From our wide ranging experience of working in this sector, we believe there is a good demand for high quality, purpose built cluster flats and studios in this part of Glasgow. The residences will be marketed direct to students later in the year and will be available for the September 2017 student intake.”

Work is currently underway to deliver twin blocks of accommodation arranged around a central courtyard for completion by July 2017.

I find it baffling how any building with such miserably small windows can be claimed to "maximise sunlight". It looks like a YOI.

Have large windows gone out of fashion or something? Why not have those tall, arched windows from the first floor to the top floor that got built a lot in the Victorian era? Or is that too tasteful?
