Out of town supermarket secures stamp of approval in Stonehaven

In doing so councillors brushed aside concerns over the potential adverse impact on the town centre, whilst simultaneously throwing out three separate supermarket proposals – including a £250m scheme drawn up by Drum Property Group working in conjunction with Barratt.
In seeking planning permission in principle Yeoman McAllister observed: “It is envisaged the eventual design proposed for the site is sympathetic to the sites semi-rural location and would adopt an organic design utilising natural materials to blend with the landscape.
“Sustainable materials and strategic use of glazing to specific elevations would allow passive solar gain to the buildings. Careful siting of the buildings would also take advantage of the solar track.”
A final decision will be taken by Aberdeenshire Council on 30 June.

Cheerio Stonehaven. You had one of the last functional town centres in the NE, with the type of shops everyone says they want on their doorstep. I give it a year until they all closed, to be replaced by vacant units and charity shops.
