A&DS invites people to Say Hello to Architecture
Architecture and Design Scotland is inviting individuals and community organisations to participate in a series of events and activities designed to encourage greater public participation in architectural issues.

Say Hello to Architecture forms part of the 2016 Festival of Architecture and will communicate why buildings are designed the way they are by creating a series of pop-up cinemas/hubs and shops in under-used spaces or by requisitioning venues originally conceived for other uses.

A&DS chief executive Jim MacDonald said: “This year is a great way for everyone to get involved in their own places and learn about how architecture impacts on everyone’s lives. We want to help communities to think about their place and respond to it in an enjoyable way. We’re looking to support communities and individuals to create their own events on the theme of Say Hello to Architecture.”

A number of architectural tours will also be conducted as part of the event.

Perhaps they could start by showing them the Architects comments on Urban Realm
Give them a “real” flavour of the Scottish Architectural Profession
Good idea ?

If you wouldn't say it to your granny.... you shouldn't post it on an anonymous online forum!

Why would you think we are all architects?

#3, exactly. I for one know fa about architecture, I just know I despise what the profession has done to our cities over the last half century

Perhaps Big Chantelle could hold a public seminar on concrete modernist buildings?

So Yaldy you admit you don't know anything about architecture, by extension you dont know anything about architects yet you still manage to curry up such strong sentiment against them.

Do you have equal contempt for the roads engineers, city planners, developers, clients, contractors, civil engineers, politicians etc who all have large inputs into the built environment?

Or is it just easier and comfier to hate architects?

#6, fair play mate, you've done me there. By "profession" I'll include everyone in your list from now on. They've all done an awful job

you can tell a lot of effort was put into that little sketch. Is it Leo the lion from MGM on that banner? :)

Yaldy, wasn't trying to catch you out or anything. I was trying to make the point that discussion about the quality, or lack of, of our built environment has a lot more to do with a broad spectrum of professions and groups and interests and goals than the simplistic and rather pointless argument that only architects have messed things up.

Trying to de-chantelle things slightly. (That's french by the way)
