Edinburgh garages to make way for new housing
Yeoman McAllister Architects have submitted plans for 34 homes on the site of existing garages at 116 Colinton Road, Edinburgh, on behalf of Eastern Properties and Westerwood.

Designed to restore the urban grain the project will include additional private and communal amenity space through three distinct blocks of development. This will restore the street frontage and introduce a new central open space with a corner cantilevered element serving as a gateway to the development.

In their design statement the architects observed: “The massing of the buildings is generally dictated by the immediate context and a desire to introduce a sensitive development which does not dominate its surroundings.

“The proposals deliberately explore a contemporary sectional model, which is characterised by the flat roof and set back top floor, to further reduce the overall visual impact.”

Elevations will be finished in stone, brick, and render as well as a mixture of grey and orange cladding panels.

'restore the street frontage'
You mean there was a vast hovering white cube there before?

"The Campaign To Find Out What Is Inside The Cube" starts here.
We are looking for 100k signatories to have this discussed in the Scottish Parliament.

I believe Phillip Schofield and ITV have been looking for a new venue for their gameshow. We might have just found it.
