University of Glasgow to host campus development exhibition
The University of Glasgow is ramping up work on its campus development master plan ahead of it assuming ownership of the Western Infirmary site this April by staging a five day long exhibition.

Atkins is currently pressing ahead with the initial stage of design work for a new health and social sciences building for the university with other key builds set to include a HOK designed research hub as well as a new College of Arts and College of Science and Engineering.

The exhibition will take place within the atrium of the Wolfson Medical School from 17 to 21 February between 11:30 and 19:00 on weekdays and 11:00 and 16:00 on weekends.

A proposal of application notice for the first phase of the £1bn campus master plan, an HLM designed learning and teaching hub located on the Boyd Orr car park, has been submitted to Glasgow City Council.

Architects, here's a chance to redeem yourself for what you did decades ago to the UoG campus. Good luck

We'd need a flood ae biblical pruprtions tae redeem an cleanse Glesga's soul fae the massacres done decades ago. And still being done.

And I don't see this being much better tae be honest. I mean, look at that pic above -- it's a soulless gless box. Wow. Wid it hurt ye tae put some human feelin' intae the facade? Oh, ye cannae becoz the 'Concrete modernist manifesto' says ornament is backward........

Presumably the best image has been used to promote this event. If that is the case then it looks like the university will succeed in developing an exceptionally banal estate.

If this is the best they can do then its pathetic. Its a simple steel/concrete framework with a glass curtain with no aesthetic whatsoever. I agree with Yaldy, come on RIAS this is an opportunity . Do something much much better with lasting appeal.

Very unfair to establish ones full judgement on one resource image of a master-plan still very much in its infancy. It is a very large proposal, with endless opportunity, which will undoubtedly be open to large public consultation. There should be more optimism here, Glasgow's principal university is receiving huge investment, with the potential to boost its international reputation in conjunction with transforming a dead area in the heart of an extremely cultural area. I for one am very excited to see how this progresses.
