Kirkcaldy retail park in line for £10m makeover
Hammerson are to press ahead with a £10m makeover of Fife Central Retail Park, Kirkcaldy, with the formation of five new outlets on the site of a vacant Homebase store, offering a combined 86.325sq/ft of space over ground and mezzanine levels.

Drawn up by ADF Architects the plans will also include twin ‘pods’ housing food and drink outlets  as well as the refurbishment of existing units to ensure homogenised frontages within the park.

In their design statement the architects said: “Blue/red rustic brick piers will define the units, with the majority of the elevation being formed in a structural glazing system with silicon joints. This will give maximum visibility for the businesses and maintain an uncluttered frontage.

“A ‘non-vision’ spandrel band will run across all shop fronts. This will allow for through-glass metal outrigger supports forming a continuous glass canopy across the entire terrace façade.

“At a high level, a continuous frieze of flat composite metal cladding over layered with metal louvres will create a strong roof line and visual identity. This will also order and contain signage zones for all units. The roof will also be clad in composite metal cladding panels. The rear elevations will be clad in a trapezoidal composite cladding panel incorporating fire exit doors and insulated warehouse doors.”

It is hoped that this will lend a ‘stripped contemporary style’ to the park.

Glad to see that 'SIGNAGE' is making a comeback - really miss that store.
