Nicoll Russell architect to address Taiwanese conference

March 10 2008

The Taiwanese government has invited Ric Russell OBE of Nicoll Russell Studios to be the key speaker at a Creativity Expo in Kaohsiung, on his role in the Falkirk Wheel project.

The Dundee-based practice conceived the idea of the Falkirk Wheel and were a key player in the Millennium Link’s successful lottery grant.

Russell said: “I am overwhelmed that our role in the realiseation of the Falkirk Wheel is acknowledged in this way on an International Stage. The conference is focusing on major infrastructural projects for which our practice has a particular track record…I will be using the conference as a platform to emphasis the design skills and talent available in Scotland.”

The practice is also celebrating its 25 years in business by means of a travelling exhibition, which opens this week at the RIAS Gallery in Edinburgh and which will tour a number of venues across Scotland.
