New Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre wins thumbs-up
Plans to build a exhibition and conference centre in Aberdeen have been approved by councillors, clearing the way for developer Henry Boot and architects Keppie Design to move ahead with the £333m scheme.

The new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre will quadruple the exhibition space and more than double the seating capacity of the existing centre in addition to providing a 200-bed hotel and energy centre on the site of the Rowett Research Institute bat Bucksburn.

Richard MacDonald, director of Keppie Design said: “Since our appointment in autumn last year, our committed architectural team have diligently developed the original concept to create a fantastic new facility, which will be one of the leading exhibition concert and conference centres in the world. With today’s good news, we now look forward to realising and delivering this exciting new public project.”

A separate application in principle to build 498 homes and commercial space as well as a recycling centre and park and ride facility on the site of the existing AECC at Bridge of Don.
