Students move into Partick’s West Village
Partick’s latest student housing development has opened its doors to tenants following completion of work on the Falconer Chester Hall designed build.

Built by Downing Students West Village has 701 apartments including en-suite shared and studio accommodation the block overlooks the River Kelvin on Beith Street and incorporates extensive areas of public realm including a new riverfront walkway.

Faced predominantly in brick the £60m project sports a feature drum corner elevation clad in natural stone with facilities including a laundry, games room and communal lounge.

Geo Light sticks illuminate the waterfront by night with planted lime trees helping to screen the development.
The walkway will eventually connect up with Glasgow Harbour

That's neither housing, or a village. It's a factory. This propensity for spin is tedious.

Not that bad, but then again, not that good.
The riverfront walkway is a fantastic development. As omeone who loves to take long walks around the west end, I'll definitely be exploring that.
Unfortunately, the buildings are more of a housing scheme than a village. The top two floors looks a bit cheap and nasty as well, I take it that is just to save some money.
I'd also be worried about the general quality of the buildings. When I stayed at Murano street, you could hear someone fart three floors down, and in a block full of student you can imagine that was a real problem.

More could have been done given the riverfront location.

How many ugly 'factories' & what total student rooms, have been built outside city centre in last couple of years? In WE = Finnieston? Partick Chester Hall = 701. Tramworks? Kelvin Court? Gibson St.? Thurso Street? Clifton and Stewart House? Coming soon; North Woodside Rd: + 400 of them...

Not attractive in any way. Prime location . Lack of imagination.
