Anderson Bell + Christie lead latest Balornock regeneration push
Anderson Bell + Christie have submitted plans on behalf of Loretto Housing Association to build a mixture of flats, cottage flats, houses and bungalows on the site of the former Balornock care Home, Glasgow.

Wallacewell will include 38 mixed tenure homes finished in buff brick, with projecting details and areas of fibre cement cladding and timber louvres to define common closes and stairs in a scheme characterised by capped parapets and vertically proportioned window openings.

In their design statement the architects said: “Although the individual house types are of a suburban scale they are carefully grouped together to form larger blocks and terraces allowing for a greater density and creating a more urban street environment.

“A number of prominent feature gables are positioned onto public areas of the site such as the open amenity area at the southern corner, at the end of a street or at the entrance to cottage flats.”

Anderson Bell + Christie previously prepared a masterplan for Balornock, which includes a Collective designed community hall.
