GHA to demolish four Tarfside Oval blocks
Glasgow Housing Association has announced it is to demolish four multi-storey blocks at tarfside Oval, Glasgow, after the social landlord found the properties to be too expensive to maintain and difficult to let.

The move will see the towers, currently lying empty, replaced by up to 60 low-rise homes

GHA chair Gordon Sloan: “Tenants are at the heart of everything we do and it was clear the community wanted the blocks to be demolished and new homes built instead. The flats have become unpopular with local residents and would have been very expensive to improve and maintain.”

Dem Master are already on site preparing the properties for demolition although the process is not expected to complete until the end of 2015.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the demolition of two blocks at Lincoln Avenue, Knightswood.

good riddance, I bought a house in the area 2 years ago and glad the eyesores are getting demolished. A sense of less eyes overlooking you and it is the feelings of neighbours that they played a part along with mobile phones for a watch out location on a number of house break ins in the area.

Good the flats will be demolished tomorrow my worry
is who will move into the new homes ? I hope it's not all the undesirables who lived in those flats before it's a nice neighbourhood I hope the GHA screen the new tenants carefully watch this space
