£3.7m Wester Hailes affordable housing project to move on-site
Lovell are to move on site with a £3.7m development of 183 homes for Places for People at Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, following the approval of grant funding by City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government.

Part of the ongoing regeneration of the area the scheme will be split into two phases and provide a mix of 40 three-bedroom townhouses, 143 one to three bed flats with properties offered for affordable rent , mid-market rent and shared equity sale.

Designed by Cooper Cromar the homes will display an urban character, arranged around a number of interconnected courtyards which reflect the principles of ‘designing streets’.

Colin Rae, project director Scotland at Places for People, comments: “We are delighted to see work begin on this site which has been derelict for nearly 20 years.  This development will deliver an important milestone in our promise to provide 1,000 new affordable homes for The City of Edinburgh.”

Construction will commence later this month for completion by August 2016.
