Saltire Housing Design Award winners revealed
Winners of the 2014 Saltire Housing Design Awards have been named with John Gilbert Architects picking up the Innovation in Housing award for a study highlighting the changes needed to reduce carbon emissions and energy usage in traditional tenement housing.

Also taking a bow on the winner’s podium were Cameronwebster Architects, who picked up a Saltire Medal for their transformation of a former workshop at North Gardner Street, Glasgow, into a private residence.

Elsewhere Collective Architecture were named as the winner of the Good Building Award for their delivery of 49 flats and town houses in Anderston, Glasgow.

Commenting on the latter win John Dalton, awards chair at CIOB Scotland said: “The Argyle Street project has been selected as the overall winner of the award primarily due to  the very high standard of brickwork, in particular the feature panels, as well as the quality of workmanship in the wall cladding to the east and west elevations.  The overall quality of finishes and attention to detail within the flats and the access stairways is also worthy of note.”
