Unicorn press ahead with B-listed Dundee transit shed conversion
Unicorn Property Group has announced it is to press ahead with a £3m conversion of a B-listed transit shed on Dundee’s waterfront this spring, transforming it into new office accommodation.

Shed 25 at City Quay will be subject to a renovation plan by Archial Norr Architects which will 22,000sq/ft of lettable space and is being marketed at the burgeoning renewable energy sector.

This work will create a new glazed façade along the north elevation alongside the creation of new glazed openings and an entrance space.

Unicorn director Tim Allan commented: “Shed 25 is the last of the traditional transit sheds at City Quay, and we are going to put that into office space because demand is currently going through the roof in Dundee,” Mr Allan said.

“Lots of people are looking for space and I think we’ll be full at Dundee One later this year.”

Funding for the project is being secured from the Business Premises Renovation Allowance and the Scottish Partnership for Regeneration in Urban Centres.

The work follows Archial Norr's prior conversion of a neighbouring  Clock Tower.

Another positive development for Dundee! After this is completed, the main objective for the City Quay should be the establishment of a marina and finding a berth for the Unicorn. Then the area could be a real asset.

3million seems quite a hefty price tag for the conversion of these two smallish sheds.

#2: This would only equate to about £1500/sqm.
