Latest Dundee hotel plan submitted
An application has been filed by Peter Inglis Architects for the development of a 100 bed hotel on the site of a petrol station on Dundee’s East Marketgait.

Located adjacent to the newly completed Olympia swimming pool the hotel would connect to an adjacent multi-storey car park via a dedicated link bridge.

Rising to seven storeys the building is proposed to be clad with blue engineering brick and is distinguished by a glazed frontage which doubles as an external reception space.

Feature panels are to be affixed to selected windows on the west elevation to enliven the façade.

In a design statement Inglis remarked: “The site is ideally placed to complement the Dundee Waterfront Development and embrace its vision to transform the City of Dundee into a world leading waterfront destination for visitors and businesses through the enhancement of its physical, economic and cultural assets.”

It is the latest hotel project to be proposed in the city, spurred on by a waterfront redevelopment programme, notably a revamped Custom House and a new Malmaison.

No construction timeframe has been given.

Erm, this makes me want to take back my previous superlative comments about the recently featured "architecture" in Aberdeen. Amazing! This has the "wow-factor".

How could someone think it's a idea idea to have over 36 rooms all opening up to the restaurant space, with all that smell and no fresh air, not to mention the noise?
