University of Salford to begin work on Peel Park student campus

The University of Salford has secured £81m in financing for construction of a 1,367 bed student housing development within its Peel Park campus.Designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating the scheme will incorporate a range of social spaces including TV and games room, gym, group study lounges – as well as a private dining kitchen, launderette and a cinema room.
Professor Martin Hall, vice-chancellor of the University, said: “Our new student accommodation will, alongside our other major investments, create a studying and living environment which will be second to none.
“Set next to the historical Peel Park and within walking distance to the centre of the vibrant city of Manchester, students will be catered for like never before.”
Graham Construction is set to move on site at Salford Village by the end of the month with a view to receiving the first occupants in time for the 2015/16 academic year.
