Finalised Girvan leisure centre plans published
South Ayrshire Council has unveiled the finalised designs for a landmark £8m leisure centre at Girvan Harbour, opening a 12 week consultation period for the proposed plan.

Designed by Page\Park the centre will be built on the site of an existing pool, pavilion and parking area on Knockcushan Street, benefitting from expansive views out to Ailsa Craig.

It will incorporate a main pool and teaching pool together with a soft play area, café, community hall, fitness suite and rooftop viewing gallery but construction is dependent on £4m of match funding being raised by South Carrick Community Leisure.

Council leader Bill McIntosh said: "This really is a milestone for the people of Girvan and marks the start of the formal process to turn the vision of a new leisure and community facility into a reality. I'm sure the designs and the progress of the proposals will create a real buzz in the town and I hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to get involved in the consultation.”

Project partners include Harley Haddow, Buro Happold, David Adamson & Partners and Ian White Associates.
