Clydesdale steel works redevelopment plans approved

June 15 2007

Plans for the redevelopment of the former Clydesdale steel works site near Motherwell have been approved by North Lanarkshire Council.

The £110 million scheme headed by Banks Developments will see a year-long decontamination, landscaping and road building project leading to the construction of over 500 new houses, which could be ready for occupation as early as December 2008.

Andrew Liddell, regional manager with Banks Developments, said “The Clydesdale site has lain in disrepair for years and we are very excited at the prospect of transforming it into a new community that will significantly enhance the local area.”
