Glasgow National Hockey Centre unveiled
The £5.5m Glasgow National Hockey Centre has been officially unveiled by Glasgow City Council ahead of its opening next month.

Located on Glasgow Green the 2014 Commonwealth Games venue will be made available to the public ahead of the event, offering a 500 seat grandstand and space for an additional 4,500 temporary spaces during the Games.

Designed in-house by GCC and built by City Building the facility features two floodlit hockey pitches and includes accommodation, offices, meeting rooms and a function suite.

Councillor Archie Graham, executive member for the Commonwealth GCC, said: “This international-standard venue is a wonderful addition to Glasgow’s already outstanding sporting facilities.

“I am delighted that all of the council venues that will be used during the Games will be open to the public more than a year before the Opening Ceremony.  This is in itself another sporting legacy for Glasgow.”
