Pinkston Paddlesports Centre secures funding

Designed by 7N Architects and whitewater specialists Engineering Paddler Designs, the £2.3m centre will be located on the Forth & Clyde canal at Pinkston Basin and is envisaged to become a centre for urban watersports such as canoeing, kayaking and rafting.
It will incorporate its own white water course, canoe polo pitches and boathouses which will be made available to casual and elite users alongside associated education and administrative areas.
GCC has already stumped up £272k in support of what would be the first such scheme of its kind in Scotland – although there are plans for a similar centre in Leith.
Councillor Archie Graham, executive member for the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow City Council, said: “This funding contribution from the council is the final piece in the jigsaw for this project, which will have 25,000 users every year.
“The Pinkston Paddlesports Centre is a perfect example of a legacy project in Glasgow, bringing community and economic benefits to the area and contributing to the regeneration efforts going on across the north side of the city centre.”

Yes, the design was a collaboration between 7N and EPD.

And the design was very closely based on the feasibility study design created by a.n other un-credited architect.
