Ryder Architecture launch Glasgow exhibition
Ryder Architecture is to mark their 60th anniversary with the opening of a fortnight long exhibition of their work at Glasgow’s Briggait from 10 May.

Charting developments from the practices formation by Gordon Ryder and Peter Yates in 1953 the exhibition will chart the evolution of the practice over the intervening six decades, documenting key projects to be completed in the city alongside those of Gordon Murray Architects – which merged with Ryder’s Glasgow office in January 2012.

These include work for the pioneering engineering firm Barr and Stroud alongside more recent work such as the SAS Radisson, Sentinel Building and… bringing things bang up to date, One West Regent Street.

Commenting ahead of the exhibition Ryder director Gordon Murray said: “2013 is an important and exciting year for us in Scotland. It remains difficult in economic terms with an uneven construction industry. Scotland is also on the verge of a new political landscape consequent upon the referendum in 2014.

“However, with increased investment in public buildings and infrastructure now beginning to come to fruition, there are new opportunities for the further development of Scotland's architecture.

“Great Scottish architecture is on the increase and is amongst the best in the world, in their context Ryder Architecture’s work can be seen through the exhibition to be operating in that environment through innovative and purposeful projects.”

I'm looking forward to seeing seeing some new projects by ryder that were carried after they bought Gordon Murray - I hope they've not just rebranded all the GM+AD work.
