Inverness ‘Golden Bridge’ slotted into place
A9 motorists will be presented with a new landmark on their journeys from today with the installation of a new pedestrian link bridge serving the new Beechwood campus of Inverness College.

The 84m long crossing has been built by Morgan Sindall in a tricky operation requiring transportation of the completed structure from the Inverness Campus site before being jacked into position overnight.

7N architects, masterplanner of the new campus, undertook the concept design for the 290 tonne golden bridge.

Ruaraidh MacNeil, Highlands and Islands Enterprise's project director for Inverness Campus, said: "This is a landmark project for Inverness - the Golden Bridge will welcome locals and visitors alike when they arrive in the capital of the Highlands."

It looks like something from Saddam Hussein's despot collection circa 1970. Words do not describe how terrible this monstrous old fashioned bridge is. I drive past it on Sunday and the sun was already blinding drivers and that was between snow storms. Another ugly landmark for Inverness to match the ugly Bridge street development.
