Main contractor appointed for Aberdeen’s Rowett Institute
Aberdeen University have announced the appointment of Lend Lease as main contractor for the new Rowett Institute for Nutrition and Health.

Work on the £25m Forresterhill campus will begin in April and is scheduled to complete by late 2014, whereupon the existing Institute building will be vacated.

Taking the form of a four storey glazed box the scheme has been designed by Halliday Fraser Munro who have detailed the façade with dark glazing bands of varying widths dissected by silver vertical caps.

Professor Peter Morgan, director of the Rowett Institute, said:  “The Rowett is already at the forefront of the UK’s research capability in nutrition.

"With rapidly growing rates of obesity much more work is needed, particularly when it comes to understanding how and why people eat in the way that they do and what can be done to change eating behaviour. Rowett research also supports the food and drink industry to produce healthier products.”
