Lasswade High School construction progresses
Construction work on the new £37m Lasswade High School, Midlothian, is now well underway, a project which will incorporate a new community hub with library, leisure centre, computer hub, conference suite, swimming pool and sports hall.

Designed by Cooper Cromar and built by BAM Construction the project sports a façade of coloured glazing and will bring together a range of existing facilities under one roof for the first time.

Douglas Keillor, regional director, BAM Construction, Scotland, said:  “Lasswade High is a fine example of partnership and investment bringing not only a superb new facility to serve both the school and the local community, but also award winning community benefit schemes, major employment opportunities for local SME’s, creating apprenticeships and other jobs, along with maintaining significant numbers of jobs in the region during construction.”

Lasswade is one of 67 schools being built around the country as part of a £1.25bn Schools for the Future programme.

Were these school exemplars not designed at Stage 1 of the competitive dialogue process, prior to BAM's teams involvement, by BDP based on the Westminster Academy model?
