Kilgallioch wind farm secures planning
Proposals to build 96 wind turbines on land straddling the border between Dumfries and Galloway and South Ayrshire have been given the seal of approval from the Scottish Government.

Scottish Power Renewables' Kilgallioch project will thus press ahead, albeit with conditions to protect the local environment, including the recruitment of two countryside rangers to manage the land and funding for environmental projects.

Energy Minister Fergus Ewing said: "The Kilgallioch wind farm will create jobs both in its construction and during its lifetime, as well as having the capacity to supply more than 130,000 homes with renewable electricity.

"In consenting the application, I have put a number of conditions in place to protect the local wildlife and environment and recognise that measures have been taken to mitigate the impact of the development."
