Gorbals tower blocks to be demolished
New Gorbals Housing Association has submitted plans to demolish the twin Sandiefield Road tower blocks to make way for new homes and offices.

The plans, drawn up in collaboration with Page\Park architects and Ian White Associates, were given the backing of all 15 respondents to a pre-application consultation, paving the way for a new build solution for the key plot.

Intended to slot into the existing 1990 Crown Street masterplan this will entail construction of four storey street facing housing alongside a two storey office space and community centre – potentially to be occupied by NGHA itself.

A complementary approach to the massing and approach of neighbouring developments will be applied.

Am currently working on the flats stripping asbestos from them. The plan for demolition is late July early August by the means of explosion :)
