Kikcudbright based textile artist wins NYC hotel work
Textile artist Morag MacPherson has won a five figure contract to complete the interior fit out of Midtown Manhattan’s latest hotel, Union Square.

MacPherson, who is based in Kirkcudbright, will supply a series fabric headboard panels for each of the hotel’s 178 rooms, designed to reflect the seasons after her novel application of digital technology to traditional textiles caught the eye of the hotels architects - VLDG.

MacPherson said: “The Union Square Hotel will be a contemporary and luxurious building in the heart of New York, and the owners wanted something stylish and unique to reflect this.

“My designs depict each season and hotel staff can change the headboard throughout the year. The panels will provide an ideal centrepiece for each room and bring together a riot of colour with overlapping patterns and motifs taken from my ‘Masculine and Feminine in Nature’ collection.”

Union Square is scheduled to open in June.
