Steiner inspired Aberdeen community hall completes

Robertson has completed construction work on a £3m community hall at Newton Dee Camphill Community, an organisation specialising in the care of young people with learning difficulties.

Phoenix Hall will provide a focal point for the campus and house an auditorium, library, café, offices and activity rooms. Built using a primary glulam structure around a secondary timber frame the hall boasts bespoke timber detailing - including timber roof shingles, adorn this structure highlighted by the use of smooth render.

A semi circular plan creates a small external amphitheatre, which will be used for performances and external seating when the weather allows.

Regional Managing Director for Robertson, Sean O’Callaghan, said: “Robertson is proud to have completed work on such an inspirational design project.

“The Phoenix Hall can now be enjoyed by staff and students for generations to come.”

The hall was designed by Camphill Communitiy's in-house team of architects and is based on the education principles pioneered by Rudolph Steiner.
